Lonnie Wheatley, BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (April 6, 2023) – As we hop into the first weekend of Easter, an increasing number of tracks and series try to unfurl the first green flag of the 2023 season.
The World of Outlaws continue on in Missouri and Kansas, USAC gets its Midwest season under way and the High Limit series rounds out the week with the first event of its inaugural season.
The World of Outlaws take to the high banks of Cameron, Missouri’s U.S. 36 Raceway on Friday where Sheldon Haudenschild stole victory honors from Brad Sweet on the last lap in the series most recent outing in 2020. Then on Saturday, $20,000 is on the line in the fifth Jason Johnson Classic as the series returns to Wichita’s 81 Speedway for the first time since 2017.
David Gravel leads the way into the weekend, but Brad Sweet and Carson Macedo are both well within striking distance.
After Jake Swanson, Daison Pursley and Brady Bacon scored Florida wins, USAC gets Midwest action going Saturday at Lawrenceburg Speedway where Kyle Cummins won last October after the 2022 Spring and Sprintweek events fell victim to rain.
After a quiet Easter Sunday, the High Limit series kicks off its inaugural season with a $50,000-to-win tilt on Tuesday night at Kansas City’s Lakeside Speedway. Buddy Kofoid took the checkered flag in the series inaugural event last August at Lincoln Park Speedway.
The Posse sees another full slate of action while several series get under way including an IRA vs. MOWA clash for two nights at 34 Raceway and the Nebraska-based Malvern Bank 360’s at Shelby County among others.
