Lonnie Wheatley, BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (March 16, 2023) – The first World of Outlaws vs. Pennsylvania Posse clash of the year headlines this upcoming weekend’s open wheel racing action.
The Outlaw vs. Posse tilts at Williams Grove on Friday and Lincoln on Saturday are among just a handful of events still standing at this time as USAC/CRA gives it a go at Perris Auto Speedway and Placerville and Marysville both try for winged 360 cards on Saturday.
Friday’s card at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA, is the first of seven scheduled World of Outlaws events atop the ½-mile clay oval.
The Posse fared well in last year’s battles with Lance Dewease winning three of the last four features with other winners last year including Brad Sweet and Brent Marks.
Hybrid Jacob Allen, a Central Pennsylvania native that wields a WoO member card, topped last year’s outing at Lincoln Speedway with WoO reps Brad Sweet and Sheldon Haudenschild scoring Pigeon Hills wins the previous two years.
David Gravel, a two-time Williams Grove winner in 2020, leads the WoO troops into the weekend with a 20-point edge over Logan Schuchart while Lincoln ace Freddie Rahmer holds the early edge in Hosehead’s Central PA points over Danny Dietrich.
Still standing at this point, Perris Auto Speedway offered up five different winners in as many USAC/CRA events last year before Damion Gardner finally became a repeat winner in September. Also picking up PAS wins last year were Matt Mitchell, Cody Williams, current points leader Brody Roa and Charles Davis, Jr.
Cali’s Marysville Raceway will try to make up last week’s opener after Andy Forsberg topped the Toller Memorial. Forsberg topped last year’s point charts at Placerville as both tracks try for Saturday action.
Everything else scheduled for this weekend has already been halted by weather including the High Limit opener at Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway on Tuesday and the ASCS National opener at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Friday and Saturday.
As always, check with the track via social media or the old-fashioned phone before making the trek to make sure that all things are still a go.
