McIntosh Leads Midget Power Rankings after Xtreme Opening Night Triumph!

Lonnie Wheatley, BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (March 14, 2023) – Cannon McIntosh moved to the top of the 2023 edition of the Midget Power Rankings charts following a win in Friday night’s Xtreme Outlaw Midget season opener at Du Quoin’s Southern Illinois Center.

McIntosh split the weekend’s victory honors with 16-year-old Cali sensation Jade Avedisian, who made a jump to third in the Midget Power Rankings with her Saturday night win after a spirited contest with Thomas Meseraull.

Texas shoe Kyle Jones is sandwiched by McIntosh and Avedisian in the Midget Power Rankings, sitting at second after a top-ten at the Chili Bowl and then a podium finish Saturday night in Du Quoin.

The lead trio of McIntosh, Jones and Avedisian are among just a handful of drivers to race into the January’s Chili Bowl finale as well as both feature nights at Du Quoin along with Mitchel Moles and Meseraull.

McIntosh opened the season with a Chili Bowl prelim win and a third-place run in the finale before winning Friday’s Xtreme opener.  His luck soured on Saturday night win an early flip that put him on the sidelines for the balance of the feature.

After narrowly missing the top spot in the Midget Power Rankings in both 2020 and 2022, McIntosh is out to an early 17-point advantage over Jones with Avedisian another point back in third.  Chili Bowl champ Logan Seavey is fourth with Moles rounding out the current top five.

Tanner Thorson, Shane Golobic, McDermand, Emerson Axsom and Justin Grant fill out the current top ten.

There is a lone Midget event on the slate this weekend as the USAC Western States Midgets kick off the 2023 campaign Saturday night at Bakersfield Speedway with POWRi’s annual Turnpike Challenge looming next Thursday through Saturday (March 23-25) in Oklahoma at Creek County Speedway (pending completion of track improvements) and two nights at Port City with Western States in action as well at Antioch next Saturday, March 25.

The Midget Power Rankings are a part of the Open Wheel Power Rankings that also includes STIDA Winged 410s, Non-Wing Sprint Cars and Rod End Supply Winged 360s.
