Snyder Snares $10K in Port City’s Outlaws Nationals Finale!

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (March 11, 2023) – Steven Snyder, Jr., put an exclamation point on Saturday’s 50-lap Milestone Home Service Co. Outlaw Sprint Nationals at Port City Raceway.

After rallying from 15th to win Friday night’s preliminary feature, Snyder, Jr., battled past Brian Carber in the opening half of Saturday night’s finale and sliced through traffic much of the way to secure the $10,000 winner’s share aboard the EVO+ Fuel Injection No. 21s Hyper Outlaw Micro Sprint.

While the Rising Sun, MD, racer departed Tulsa with the big payday, Marlow’s Jett Nunley and Monmouth, Illinois’ Braxton Flatt won the accompanying Restricted “A” Class and Junior Sprint features, respectively.

While Snyder, Jr., led the feature field to the green flag by virtue of his Friday night win, it was outside front row starter Carber gunning into the early lead.

Snyder, Jr., kept the pressure on and briefly slid past Carber in traffic on the 16th round only to have Carber regain command the next time around.

Snyder, Jr., battled back into the lead soon after a lap 21 restart and then survived a pair of interruptions with 15 laps to go to secure the prominent win.

Eighth-starter Jeffrey Newell fought his way into second over the closing circuits with Carber settling for show honors.

Jake Hagopian was fourth with Matthew Howard rounding out the top five as 19th-starter Garrett Benson, Colby Sokol, Chris Cochran, Cole Roberts and Jett Yantis completed the top ten.

Cody Key battled amongst the top trio much of the way before spinning to a stop in turn four after 35 laps, setting the stage for Cole Schroeder’s turn four tumble on the ensuing restart.  The only other caution in the race occurred after 21 laps when Frank Flud spun in turn two before later exiting to the infield.

Saturday night’s Milestone Home Service Co. Outlaw Nationals attracted a field of 83 entries in the Outlaw class.
