Lonnie Wheatley, BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (September 26, 2022) – Even after a rough weekend that included a pair of flips at Gas City and Eldora, Cannon McIntosh still maintains the top spot in the 2022 Midget Power Rankings.
Knotted atop the win charts with 13 triumphs apiece, McIntosh holds a 36-point advantage over Buddy Kofoid, who has topped the Midget Power Rankings over each of the past two years.
McIntosh bounced back from a flip during Qualifying at Gas City to salvage a seventh-place finish and then flipped got into the wall and upside down again while leading Friday night at Eldora before finishing out the weekend with a seventh-place run in Saturday night’s Four Crown Nationals finale. With the pair of top-tens on the weekend, McIntosh has now posted 37 top-ten runs.
After McIntosh topped USAC’s Sweet Springs opener on September 9 to run his win total to 13, Kofoid won the next night and then matched McIntosh in the win total on the opening night of Eldora’s Four Crown before a blown tire ended a potential podium run on Saturday night.
With Oklahoma and California atop the Midget Power Rankings, 17-year-old Bryant Wiedeman of Colby, KS, is another 95 points back in third after a pair of runner-up Four Crown finishes with Justin Grant and POWRi National points leader Brenham Crouch rounding out the current top five.
Current Xtreme Outlaw points leader Zach Daum sits sixth ahead of Thomas Meseraull and Jacob Denney as Kaylee Bryson breaks into the top ten after a runner-up USAC finish at Gas City with Taylor Reimer filling out the current top ten.
The Midget Power Rankings are a part of the Open Wheel Power Rankings that also includes STIDA Winged 410s, Non-Wing Sprint Cars and Rod End Supply Winged 360s.
