Lonnie Wheatley, BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (August 9, 2022) – On the cusp of the biggest week of Sprint Car racing of the year, Brent Marks retains his hold on the top rung of the STIDA Winged 410 Sprint Car Power Rankings.
Perhaps of concern or perhaps by plan by sitting out several events to prep for the Knoxville Nationals, Marks’ red-hot stretch seems to have a cooled a bit since a runner-up WoO finish at Williams Grove on July 22.
Marks still holds an 81-point advantage over Carson Macedo, who has made a move to second after topping the opening night of Pevely action this past weekend and then chasing Kyle Larson to the stripe in last night’s Front Row Challenge at Oskaloosa.
Leading the way in the win department at 17, Anthony Macri sits third with Brad Sweet heating up in fourth. Sweet, who topped the Ironman 55, has racked up the most points over the past 30 days to climb from sixth and has chiseled 102 points off of Marks’ advantage to close within 103 points of the leader as “El Gato Grande” vies for the top ranking for a third time in the past four years.
Sweet has edged Donny Schatz by just five points over the last 30 days, as both are in top form going into the Nationals. The top ten earners in the STIDA Winged 410 Sprint Car Power Rankings over the past 30 days are as follows:
Rank | Name | Pts |
---|---|---|
1 | Brad Sweet | 262 |
2 | Donny Schatz | 257 |
3 | David Gravel | 244 |
4 | Carson Macedo | 234 |
5 | Logan Schuchart | 177 |
6 | Rico Abreu | 162 |
7 | Brent Marks | 160 |
8 | Tyler Courtney | 160 |
9 | Kyle Larson | 158 |
10 | Anthony Macri | 130 |
While Sweet has climbed to fourth, Justin Peck has slipped from second to fifth on the season. Tyler Courtney is currently sixth overall ahead of David Gravel and Danny Dietrich while Schatz, who topped the STIDA Winged 410 Power Rankings six years in a row from 2013 to 2018, has made way into the top ten at ninth with Sheldon Haudenschild filling out the current top ten.
