Lonnie Wheatley, BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (August 4, 2022) – The Western Sprint Tour’s “Speedweek Northwest” proved to be quite fruitful for Justin Sanders.
The Aromas, California racer topped four consecutive nights of competition at Oregon’s Cottage Grove Speedway to push his season win total to 11 triumphs, extending his Rod End Supply Winged 360 Sprint Car Power Rankings lead to 92 points over Scotland, Ontario’s Dylan Westbrook.
Westbrook tried to keep pace with an ASCS Speedweek win in Caney, KS, but an incident at Wichita’s 81 Speedway and then consecutive rainouts opened the door for Sanders to slip away for the time being.
Both will be in action during this weekend’s Knoxville 360 Nationals with Sanders taking the wheel of the Swindell Speedlab No. 39 and Westbrook in the familiar Hills Racing No. 47x.
With Sanders and Westbrook leading the way, Davie Franek is another 43 points back in third with Wayne Johnson overtaking Terry McCarl to take over fourth.
Blake Hahn has climbed a pair of positions to sixth after a last-lap ASCS win at Lakeside on Tuesday with Andy Forsberg and Aaron Reutzel both climbing three positions to seventh and eighth, respectively.
Chase Randall, “The Quickest Chicken”, made a big move by climbing from 21st to ninth with Shane Golobic filling out the current top ten.
