Lonnie Wheatley, BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (August 2, 2022) – Justin Grant was a model of consistency during USAC’s Indiana Sprint Week, pushing his lead in the Non-Wing Sprint Car Power Rankings to 46 points over C.J. Leary with Brady Bacon just another six points back in third.
Among 99 drivers that took part in at least one leg of ISW and 22 that took in all seven rounds, the Ione, CA, native was the only driver to finish among the top five in all six features with a win as well as two runner-up finishes, two third-place finishes and a fifth-place run.
While Grant picked off Kokomo honors, the top spot was shared among five other drivers with others scoring wins including Shane Cottle (Kokomo), Leary (Lawrenceburg), Mitchel Moles (Lincoln Park), Kyle Cummins (Bloomington) and Robert Ballou (Haubstadt).
While 48 drivers made the cut for at least one ISW feature over the course of the week, Grant was among just ten that made the grid for all seven feature events (Lawrenceburg fell to rain as the feature hit the track) along with Leary, Ballou, Moles, Bacon, Chase Stockon, Jason McDougal, Emerson Axsom, Briggs Danner and Matt Westfall.
While Grant finished among the top-five in all six completed feature events, Bacon was the next on the charts with four top-fives as Leary, Stockon, Ballou and Cummins all posted three top-five runs.
Twenty-two drivers landed among the top-ten at least once during the week with Leary, Bacon and Stockon missing the top-ten just once as Grant was always in there.
With Grant, Leary and Bacon leading the way in Non-Wing Sprint Car Power Rankings, Ballou and Axsom maintained their fourth and fifth positions with Jake Swanson, whose week was cut short due to injury, and Stockon staying in sixth and seventh. Cummins made a jump from 11th to eighth with Logan Seavey and Westfall filling out the current top ten.
