Leary Leaps into Non-Wing Sprint Car Power Rankings Lead!

Lonnie Wheatley, BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (May 18, 2022) – The latest edition of the Non-Wing Sprint Car Power Rankings finds a new name at the top of the charts as Greenfield, Indiana’s C.J. Leary has taken over the top spot.

A pair of top-five runs this past weekend in USAC competition in Kansas and Missouri was enough to push the driver of the Kodiak Products No. 77m into the lead by a slim 10-point margin over previous leader Damion Gardner.

Leary, currently leading the Xtreme Outlaw points and eighth in USAC points, has claimed four wins thus far in 2022 including a pair of Xtreme triumphs along with a weekly win at Paragon and a BOSS score at Montpelier.  Leary topped the Non-Wing Sprint Car Power Rankings in 2019 and has finished among the top five over each of the past four years.

Gardner slipped from the top spot to second after finishing outside of the top-ten for the first time in nine USAC/CRA starts this past Saturday at Bakersfield.

Coming off of a runner-up finish at Lakeside and a win at I-70, Robert Ballou vaults from eighth to third with Emerson Axsom and Jake Swanson filling out the current top five.

After winning two of the last three USAC Sprint Car features, Brady Bacon has climbed from 13th to sixth as he vies for the top ranking for a third year in a row.

Justin Grant has gained jumped three positions to seventh with Charles Davis, Jr., Matt Mitchell and Chase Stockon completing the current top ten.

The Non-Wing Sprint Car Power Rankings are a part of the Open Wheel Power Rankings that also includes STIDA Winged 410 Sprint Cars, Rod End Supply Winged 360 Sprint Cars and Midgets.  Title sponsorship of the Non-Wing Sprint Car Power Rankings is available, contact lonniewheatley@gmail.com for information.
