Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (April 21, 2022) – A practice session paid off to the tune of $500 for Cannon McIntosh on Thursday night at Port City Raceway.
And it served as an ideal appetizer to the weekend’s Third Annual USAC Midget “T-Town Showdown” atop the 1/8-mile clay oval.
Following four practice sessions to set the field for the 8-lap USAC Midget Dash for Cash, McIntosh outgunned pole starter Justin Grant at the drop of the green flag and then denied a late charge to secure the win aboard the Dave Mac Dalby Motorsports Crescent Gear Wrench No. 08.

“At least we finally won something here,” the Bixby, OK, native commented. “It’s not a feature, but it’s a start and gives us some good momentum going into the rest of the weekend”
McIntosh established the fifth-quickest time through practice and then capitalized upon drawing the front-row outside starting position for the Dash and countering a last-lap slider by Grant to take the win by just 0.159-seconds.
Logan Seavey turned the evening’s fastest lap in practice of 9.405 seconds with Thomas Meseraull, Hayden Reinbold, Grant and McIntosh also among the top five as 23 cars took part in the practice session.
In the companion 25-lap Restrictor “A” Class Showdown main event, Cache, Oklahoma’s Scout Spraggins took advantage of the pole starting position and led throughout to take the $600 win ahead of 12th-starter Bradley Cox with Jett Nunley, Ryker Morrow and Kyle Hooper rounding out the top five.
Asked if he felt pressured in the closing rounds, Spraggins summed it up with a simple, ‘No’,”.

Two full nights of the Third Annual T-Town Showdown featuring the USAC National Midgets at Port City Raceway are set to follow on Friday and Saturday.
