Lonnie Wheatley, MESQUITE, Texas (April 2, 2022) – Brent Marks has been strong out of the gates to begin the 2022 season, already picking off a win at Central Pennsylvania’s Lincoln Speedway.
Marks proved his early-season speed aboard the M&M Painting & Construction/Murray Family Investments No. 19 is no fluke by dominating Saturday night’s World of Outlaws 30-lap “Texas Outlaw Nationals” main event at the storied Devil’s Bowl Speedway.
The Myerstown, PA, shoe raced post pole-starter and early leader Brian Brown on the third round and checked out on the field to take the $20,000 payday by 2.994-seconds over Donny Schatz, who worked his way past Brown for second at the midway point.
“I was never really sure of how much of a lead I had, or if I had much of one at all so I just kept going,” Marks explained in victory lane.
After consecutive cautions with two laps in the books, Marks quickly raced into the lead and was in thorough command over the final 28 laps that ran off in non-stop fashion and blitzed to his eighth career World of Outlaws triumph.
In his wake, ten-time WoO champ and past “Texas Outlaw Nationals” winner Schatz snared the runner-up position with Show-Me Stater Brown claiming the show position.
Aussie James McFadden was fourth with Jacob Allen matching his best finish of the year by rounding out the top five.
Fast qualifier (13.462 seconds) Carson Macedo was sixth with three-time and reigning series champion Brad Sweet in seventh as Spencer Bayston, Giovanni Scelzi and Hunter Schuerenberg completed the top ten.
After Macedo set quick time, he along with Sweet, McFadden and Bayston topped heat race action before Logan Schuchart won the “B” Main.
